Exhibition - Tactile Display of Sculptures from Louvre
(Extract)
Exhibition "In Touch with Antique", including copies of displays from the
antique period of Louvre Museum in Paris will be set in the Museum of
Macedonia starting from Thursday.
The display has a humane aspect, because it is intended for blind and
persons with poor vision, who will be able to touch the exhibited
sculptures and relief.
According to Museum director Gordan Nikolov, the tactile display gives a
new concept and presentation of cultural heritage, which enables people
with impaired eyesight to perceive it through touch.
"In Touch with Antique", which is organized in cooperation with the
Tactile Gallery within the Louvre Museum, has toured in Italy, Croatia,
Serbia, with a scheduled visit to Greece.
The exhibition will include a selection of the most renowned copies of the
Greek-Roman sculpture, along with copies of three antique items found at
Macedonian territory.
The Museum of Macedonia organizes the exhibition together with the
Macedonian Association of the Blind and state school for children and
youth with impaired eyesight "Dimitar Vlahov" from Skopje, supported by
the Ministry of Culture, the French Cultural Center and Foundation Open
Society Institute Macedonia.
