After researching information on the Elia alphabet and downloading the
Elia font, I offer this comment: As a producer of tactile graphics in
which my primary method is that of thermal enhancement--specifically, the
Repro-Tronics T.I.E.--I can readily see that these font letters and
numerals might be effectively used as point symbols on maps, diagrams,
etc. I have recently experimented with using the Moon font letters as
point symbols and the Elia font might well offer an improvement over Moon
for readability on graphics. The downside, of course, is that fonts can
only be used currently with a thermal enhancement device or an embosser
like the Tiger, which has the capability of embossing graphics created in
Microsoft Word where using font letters as symbols is feasible and offers
an array of options for assigning point symbols. -- kt
