The Guling Avant-Garde Theatre will host contemporary dance performances by France's "Compagnie Pascoli" tomorrow and Sunday.
The experimental choreography will be performed by dancers wearing plastic
covers over their eyes, and who prepared for the piece by training for a year
while blindfolded.
The piece premiered in 2000 in southern France and the troupe soon after received invitations to perform at major European art festivals.
The two dancers accompanying Anne-Marie Pascoli, the founder of the company, have previously performed in Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The backdrop for the dance is a stage covered with plastic sheets upon which
marker points have been laid out that act as reference points for the dancers.
Earlier this week the dancers co-hosted a series of workshops for the visually
impaired with French dancer Emilie Hernandez, who has previously presented the
work Skin of the Soul with blind performers at the National Experimental
Theater.
The Compagnie Pascoli dance company will also be performing at the Taipei
Artists Village on Dec. 17.
Until Dec. 15 the Cultural and Education Foundation for the Blind is holding two exhibitions on level two of the Guling Avant-Garde Theatre. These are the Visually-Impaired Children's Ceramics Art Exhibition and the Tools for the Visually-Impaired Exhibition.
The company will perform at the Guling Avant-Garde Theatre, 3F, 2, Ln 5, Guling St, Taipei tomorrow at 2:30pm and 7:30pm and on Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets for the shows are available from www.artsticket.com.tw and cost NT$250. An 80 percent discount is available for visually impaired members of the public.
