Calling all artists, photographers and poets!
Do you like to draw, paint, take pictures, do textile art or write poetry? Would you like the opportunity to put your talent to work in support of The Hadley School for the Blind and see your work displayed on our Web site and in Hadley publications?

Now's your chance!

We’re soliciting art from the Hadley community (Hadley students, staff, faculty and donors) to illustrate The Hadley School for the Blind’s 2009 Woman’s Board Braille Holiday Card. The card design should have wide appeal for individuals and businesses alike. In addition, we’re looking for art, photography and poetry to use in promoting the Hadley School throughout the year, possibly in a 2010 calendar.

A jury comprised of The Hadley School for the Blind Woman’s Board members and Hadley staff will select the winning art to be featured on the 2009 Braille Holiday Card or other promotional materials or publications. If selected, artists must be able to provide original work. You will only be contacted if your work is selected for use by The Hadley School for the Blind. Jurors are not able to provide feedback on submissions.

All work must be original and created by current or former Hadley students, staff, faculty or donors. Applications will be accepted by mail or email. Each application must include a hard copy photo or electronic file (jpeg or pdf) that accurately represents your work. (Digital format preferred.) You may submit up to three entries total. Please do not submit original work during the application process. There is a one-time $10 non-refundable submission fee for entrants. Checks should be made payable to The Hadley School for the Blind. If you are submitting your application by email, please mail your check to The Hadley School for the Blind at the address below along with a copy of your application. Incomplete applications will not be processed. If you would like photo(s) of your work returned to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your application.

Art Specifications for the Braille Holiday Card and Other Promotional Materials
Participants interested in submitting art for the Braille Holiday Card are encouraged to use a non-denominational holiday or seasonal theme. Art can be horizontal or vertical and will be scaled to fit a 7.5 x 5.5 inch horizontal or vertical card. Please keep these dimensions in mind when planning your art submission. Other art or poetry submissions need not be holiday-themed.

The winner of the Braille Holiday Card art contest will have their art featured on the cover of The Hadley School for the Blind Woman’s Board’s 2009 Braille Holiday Card. The winner will also receive a free box of printed cards and a $100 cash prize.

The Hadley School for the Blind reserves the right to reproduce all accepted artwork in announcements, programs, Web sites, publications and other communications that report on or promote the event. Submission of an entry to this competition signifies acceptance of all conditions stated.
