Phone conference to focus on art for the blind

MOULTRIE - "Art Beyond Sight Awareness Month is an annual initiative to focus public
attention on the benefits of making art and culture a part of life for children and
adults with sight loss," according to the Art Education for the Blind (AEB)
organization.

The Colquitt County Arts Center will host a "Telephone Crash Conference"
organized by the AEB on Oct. 30 starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 7 p.m. The Arts

The conference schedule is as follows: 9-9:30 a.m., welcome and 2006 course overview; 9:30-10 a.m., Introduction: Handbook for Museums and Educators Online; 10-11 a.m., Universal Design: Make Your Facilities Accessible to All; 11 a.m.-noon, Launching a Pilot: How to Pilot Your First Accessible Program; noon-1 p.m., Verbal Descriptions of Art and Architecture; 1-2 p.m., New York City through Verbal Descriptions; 2-3 p.m., Community Outreach and Open House; 3-4 p.m., Partnerships with Schools and Teacher Training; 4-5 p.m., Occupational and Art Therapy for Children with Visual Impairments; 5-6 p.m., Art Programs at Community Centers and Libraries; 6-6:30 p.m., Employment at Museums and in the Arts; and 6:30-7 p.m., conclusion.
