Pedagogy of TactileGraphics. Ruth presented at the Round Table Conference last

Australia, seeand hear what they are doing, and hopefully share our knowledge.
I am able tostop over on my way to Perth, ( the conference is from 6 -9 May) so
eitherbefore or after the conference, if anyone can suggest a place I should

Story from Singapore:Student dissuaded from studying STEM subjects because of
the difficulty ofproducing accessible graphics, but persisted and succeeded
with the help ofspecialist equipment and simple accommodations. His chemistry
teacher"used a cloth cutter to create little grooves on the outlines of some
ofthe diagrams and structures, to let Eugene feel them".

Comment: Makesme sad to think that students are being disadvantaged by the
'system'! How dowe change this for our learners, internationally? Hopefully the
MarrakechTreaty will allow access to resources but then again we need educators
to beupskilled and knowledgeable! I will be following this post with interest!
