Subject: [access-uk] xp network problem

Hi,

Tryed sending this yesterday but did not seem to get through.

I have recently installed xp sp2 on a separate hd in a caddy.

I am having trouble getting the xp system to access the net.

I am using a vigor 2600 connected to the network port.

So far, I have:-

1 Downloaded and installed the latest drivers for xp from the intel
site.
The board is a d875pbz and I am using the onboard network card.

2 Attempted to set up a connection to the internet by selecting the
always on option from the internet setup wizzard.

3 If I unplug the network cable, I do not get a message in the sys tray
indicating that the cable is unplugged. I get this in windows 2000.

If I select the connection and choose the repair option, I get a message
saying that it cannot continue to varify an ip address.

So, any ideas as to where I go from hear?

Keith
