I took a look at that software, by the way, and noted that you could
also change the name of the person owning the computer. Wish I'd known
that when I had to get a sighted person to reinstall for me so that I
could do this before selling. . . ..

What yoru refering to is known as the Product Key that's needed for a
re-install of Windows XP.
Note: This is not to be confused witht he Product ID that you can
simply
get on the General tab of the System applet.
I looked for info on this a while back as I wanted to have my info handy

ended up paying a bit of cash for this handy wee program that will show
you

You may be able to see this in the registry as well but at the time I
didnt'
have time and love this wee app that shows the info and allows you to
copy
it to the clipboard so you can save to a txt file.

hit
enter to run, so to speak, to recover your pc, you most likely do not
need to know your windows cd key. if you need to know it, it's most
likely on the side of the pc case.
