Hi
Can I hijack this subject a sec please.
I have a reasonably up to date desk top, Mum and myself all but come to
blows over who's using the thing and when, our idea is to get a laptop and
network the two together wirelessly, I take it that this is possible, does
it mean one computer will be able to access anything on the other? even the
stuff in the card reader on the desktop?
can you get laptops with card readers inbuilt or do you have to connect them
via the usb as you do with a desktop? i assume you can get laptops with usb
sockets? anyone got any recommendations on laptops? large hard drive, core
processors, as many built in drives as poss, what should I think about going
for?
BTW, don't one that has those exploding batteries LOL

Hi Keith,
This is probably a limitation in the Netgear software. As a rule of
thumb, whenever I set these up, I find the option in the Netgear utility
to allow Windows to control the wireless network, then you administer it
through the control panel | networks | wireless networks. When you do
this, Windows will manage the connection state and allow power users
(what Windows sometimes call standard users) the rights to connect.
Andrew.

Hi,
Looking for some help in sorting out the family chrismas present.
System is xp pro usb netgear wireless adapter connecting to vigor
router.
I have created user accounts for each family member.
Problem is that when I log in to the accounts that do not have
administrator=20
privilidges, I am unable to connect to the router. The connection is=20
reported as having little or no connectivity but the signal is reported
as=20
excellent.
I have checked the allow all users to use the connection in the wireless
network setup.
If I change the account to administrator level, I am able to connect=20
normally.
Also, wonder if anyone can recommend some reading material on this=20
subject.
Keith
