Hi Trace,

To be honest, this does not sound like a WMP problem, it sounds like a
problem with your files. Try the following:-

1. Go into My Computer or Windows Explorer.

2. Highlight Drive C: and hit Alt-Enter for Properties.

3. Shift-tab once to the tab control, and right arrow to Tools.

4. Tab to Check Now, and press space on it. It is a button.

5. You will probably be told that the disk check can't run, because the
current drive is locked. It will ask if you want to schedule a disk check
for the next reboot, say Y for Yes.

6. Finally, restart the computer in the normal way you would restart the
machine.

Note, it will take longer to reboot the computer, because it will be
checking the disk, but it will check the disk, then reboot again, and
Windows will come up normally.

This may solve your problem, but it doesn't sound like a Windows Media
Player problem to me, if you are getting corrupt files when copying them.

Hi

I'm not, they're two separate problems but I suspect connected.

I go to Windows explorer, highlinght what I want to copy, hit copy, go to
the folder i want to copy in to and then hit paste, it'll sometimes copy
over one or two files at a time, sometimes I can do this two or three times,
copying six maximum, then I get a message telling me that the file or folder
is currupted and can't be read, they're not as some it said were damaged at
one time copied over on another occasion and I've played them on my
milestone and they're fine.

I used to highlight a track of music in windows explorer, hit enter on it
and it'd open up windows media player and play the track for me, haven't
sussed out track lists yet, now it won't, it says there's a problem, this is
since I upgraded to 11, I can't get out of it either as the menu's don't
seem to work, need to check a bouple of things out on that one.

Any ideas?

Hi Trace,

Why are you using Windows Media Player to copy MP3s to your portable device?
Simply use Windows Explorer and copy and paste them, it is much simpler.
You only need to use Media Player if the tracks are protected, and MP3's are
not.

You're a cheery soul aren't you?

i can't get my mp3's to copy over at the minute, its telling me that the
file or folder is currupt, they're not as, when i do get them on to the sd
card for my mp3 player they play no problem.

Isn't this technology wonderful?

Any ideas on that one? wondered if it might be a memory problem but I've
got a very up to date computer with one of those duel processor thingies.

Hi Trace,
It sounds like something is corrupt with the installation. I have Windows
Media Player eleven here and it works fine with Hal.

You could try downloading the player again and reinstalling it.

Hi

My computer guy has updated windows media player for me to version 11, for
some reason when i go in to the prog I'll hit the alt key to bring up the
menu's and then all hal says is cursor up or down when I try to move around
the menu's, the tab doesn't work, it seems inacessible, where am i going
wrong?

I've tried playing music from the stuff I've downloaded from allofmp3 and
its not working, I'm getting an error message, it says there's a problem
and it seems to want me to go to web help.

the tracks played in version 9

I've tried old tracks that I downloaded ages back and new stuff.

I've no idea where the problem is though as, its the first time i've tried
copying stuff over to my sd cards that i use in my milestone and I keep
getting told that the files or folders are curupted, not just one track,
several, i did get four tracks over and they've played fine, one was
actually one that was supposed to be messed up according to the message.
when I turn the external hard drive on I get that ding dong thing and the
window asking me what I want to do comes up so, its recognising the drive,
I've tried doing some work in excel from a file on a flash card that goes in
the same reader as the sd cards do, so, it doesn't look like the problem's
there either.

I'm at a loss.

The only new software I've installed is something for my bluetooth dongle
and the nokia stuff for my phone, had the phone for ages but had never
needed the software, everything is just the same as before, other than the
external drive goes in the usb in the back instead of one at the front, this
is since we had the computer moved and then put in its new place, my
computer guy did it though so, its not something I've done wrong.
