Hi Peter

I've got a Hotmail account that I seldom ever use, but I haven't put my details for that on Vista, only XP.

Hi Dave

I don't use Live Messenger, Live Mail nor Live anything else to be honest.
I don't have any problems with Windows Mail/Outlook Express at all, either
using Vista or XP. It's just that I've noticed it remembers every single
Email address I put in, even though some of the contacts are not in my
address book. I just wondered how that could be, and where I could locate
the obvious hidden folder it must be generating.

It's a curiosity really.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, have you unchecked to box in tools Options that automatically log onto

live messenger?

I have done this, but I know it's still doing something before it
downloads any email, it takes so much longer than OE did.

Hi Peter

Yes it is, except I am not using Live Messenger or anything like that.

I just can't get to grips yet with the hidden folder in Vista where this
stuff is obviously being stored. It isn't a problem as such, but I would

love to know how it's remembering things that aren't in my address book,
as well as the stuff that is. Old big brother eh? (smile)

Hi Jackie,
I wonder if Live mail is taking details from live messenger in regards
to
hidden contacts? If Skype can do this for Outlook, then perhaps Live
mail is
going online and grabbing those from Live Messenger. Just a thought.

Hi Dave

By and large, I don't mind Windows Mail, Vista's fancy name for Outlook
Express. The only thing I still can't puzzle is the fact you can do a
control N to begin a new Email, and type in the first few letters of
someone's address or name. Whether you have their contact in your
address
book or not, Vista remembers it and completes it for you in the To
field.
Now I have the box checked in Windows Mail or Outlook Express to
complete
addresses, but I find it strange that it remembers those that aren't in
the
book, as well as those that are.

Logically then, Vista is storing stuff somewhere for it to remember
every
detail, and I want to know how to access that backup or hidden area so I

can
clean it out now and then.

I also like the way in Windows Mail that you are told when a message
comes
in and is being deposited to your Junk folder. It brings up a message
telling you to check your Junk folder regularly. It is random though
what
it decides is junk, because you can get messages from this list going in
there that have the same subject line as those going into Inbox in the
normal way. Not sure how Vista determines what's junk, but, ho-hum!

Hi, I don't know if it's the same as Windows Live Mail which I am
using,
but I suspect it's similar. ctrl plus shift plus c brings up the
contacts
where you can interact with them as Jackie says. I don't like it
anythinglike as much as OE but OE just won't work on this computer at
all.

I don't like that they don't put folders in a tree view with first
letter
navigation and I don't like it popping search boxes up when you start
typing a contacts name, I prefered being able to use first letter
navigation and arrow up and down. Everything did work in Jaws 8 but is
better in Jaws 9, but what I actually did was rename my OE scripts so
that

they are now used with Windows Live Mail as they give better support
than
the official ones for Windows Live Mail. Anyone from Sand S reading
this
and care to let FS know that OE is a better base script than outlook?

Thanks
Dave

Hi Jackie, Ok many thanks for this, I think it is because I am not
using version 9 of Jaws just yet so I am waiting until I get that
before
doing anything else with that system, I shall just continue to use XP
for

now

Hi Vanja and Andy

What I do in Vista is to open the Windows Contacts, and highlight the name of the person from the list I want to get in touch with. Then I bring up the Context menu (key to left of right control,) and go down

to

Action Has Sub-Menu. By cursoring right, I find Send Email, and
enter
on it. This then puts the address of the recipient in the To field,
and

I just carry on and send in the normal way.

I hope that helps some people. I don't have any problem seeing what
I
have typed in the body text of the message, so this must be a setting
that you have a problem with Andy.

Hi, I think I was having the same problem with windows mail. I wrote
about it a while ago on jaws list, but noone replied and I assumed
that

noone knows the answer. I can't work out how to select someone from
the

addressbook when wanting to send a message. I know that there is a
button called something like "select a contact" and then you're
presented with the list of contact. I can move the cursor through
this

list, then there is a "to" buton. I assumed that by clicking on that
the person's address would be in the to field, but it doesn't get
there. I am not sure if this is a jaws problem or I just wasn't
doing
something right.

I don't have a vista PC at home, but occasionally I use it at a
client's office. I haven't plaied with it for a while, so maybe what

I
discribed above is not exactly precise, but if anyone could tell me
how

exactly to select a contact or contacts from the addressbook when
composing a message I'd apreciate it very much. Thanks.

Hi Andy,

What is it you specifically want to know. I have Vista at
home, so can try to help. I won't be having it any where
near the office yet!

George.
