[access-uk] Re: when is the new Braille coming out as I have had some information

While we're on the subject of braille, isn't it frustrating, and I wish there was an answer to this problem, is the extra amount of learning a person has to do whenever you try and learn a new language because of the braille codes. It's not just the learning, it's actually trying to find something to even explain the braille code of the other language to you. Your lecturer can make contact with a library in another country to try and organise some children's books for you to also read to learn the language, but then when they come they are in contracted and you have to try and explain that, even though you can speak the language well, and even know the letters and spellings of words, braille doesn't just work like a sighted person just picking up a book and reading it, you also have to find, learn and try memorise the braille code of the language. I don't know how many times I've had to try and explain to a sighted person how it is that I've been studying a language for ages, but when they come with a simple braille book that I should be able to read, it's a battle because it's in grade 2. I've worked out that a sort of way around this is to ask the libraries from the country whose language you want to learn everytime for there braille courses, but it's really frustrating! Ari
