Alistair, thanks for that, you have put my mind at ease. I don't want to have the high cost of upgrading my jfw software.
And thanks for the floppy drive INFO.
Where are you living in this big universe?.

Hi Billy,

Using jfw 4.51 here with a laptop and is fine. If the laptop has no floppy drive you can buy a USB floppy for £20 as I did and it worked fine.jfw 5 should be fine as well. you can get a wireless router (netgear) for £59 in from my local small computer shop or pc world are advertising them for around £40. Hope this helps!

Alistair

Ray,
thanks for that.
I'm using Jaws 5.0 at the moment with xp home os.
Would this version of Jaws be all right on a laptop?.

Afraid Billie your question is a bit too vague to give a very useful answer.

All three of the 'big name' screen readers will work well on laptops. Its simply a matter of choosing the laptop keyboard layout in the main to accomodate the different laptop layout. I know JFW has had, and probably still does have, some problems with video cards and drivers, although this seems less common than it used to be. Window-Eyes hardly, if ever, has such problems. I don't know about Dolphin products, but of course they will most certainly support laptops fine.

Worth saying, while on the subject of Dolphin, that they have now released Pocket HAL which supports a good many non-windows hand helds etc. I won't wade into what I know very little of here, and only say that if you are interested in exploring that option, then go on over to the Dolphin website. Someone who does know about this option is bound to pop up here sooner or later.
