it's probably mostly down to convenience and quality. there's a lot of stuff about that we could all do without, but we still buy it! grin. it's probably aimed at the more uninitiated of computer users who don't want to worry about line in levels, recording levels, fiddling about with calbes wondering which one goes where etc. cassettes may be on the way out, but you still have to pay decent money for a decent deck. you coudl use any old deck to transfer material to the pc, but a poor deck will cause poor recordings.

They do a single cassette unit for £49.99 that was in their offers email last month.

But it's so easy to hook a cassette player into a PC I could see no justification in spending that amount on something I've been doing without for several years.

Hi,

I looked up that USB twin cassette deck on Maplin and it was priced at £149.99.

I have no idea how well the software would work. Hopefully you could just use it as a drive and use any other recording software you have with your computer.

It seems rather over-priced, but it may get the rather off-putting job of transferring tapes done.

Hi Ibby

I've no idea I'm afraid I only know about them from emails received.

How accessible is the software that comes with either machine?

Very expensive as cassettes are on their way into the graveyard. Maplin's do

a similar conversion unit for £49.99
