Well, I haven't been offered an update in a little while so will have to see what happens or go hunting myself. Thanks forr this.

If you've turned off the prompt for Jaws software to check this out, you may not have. It's 12.0..525. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling JAWS 12 several times and also did the repair install thing it has. I'm now using NVDA and JAWS 10 for the moment. Original message: I don't know if it's relevant or helpful, but I upgraded to Jaws 12 a few weeks ago and suddenly noticed the other day that I couldn't read letter for letter or word for word across lines. However, a reboot did solve the problem and I wonder if, though perhaps more prevalent in these later versions, it's not too big a deal to reboot sometimes. <Smiles> BTW: I did unload Jaws to start with but it started really acting up and I was forced to close down on that occasion.) -- Carol P---- Original Message ---- From: "Mohammed Adeel" <licenced2chill@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2011 9:00 PM Subject: [access-uk] Update: JAWS not reading Word documents and text areas in IE8 using Windows 7 block quote I've installed the JAWS 10 demo and it appears to be reading Word 2003 documents fine when I use the arrow keys + text areas in IE8. It is JAWS 11 and 12 that have this problem. Not sure if it is something to do with the FS mirror display driver.
