yep, i know of these leeds from maplin, but it is the solid state recorder i
need, and one that would have some sort of automatic activation so as it
wouldnt be running when the phone wasnt in use.
i already have a unit with a casette tape on it that pluggs directly into the
phone socket, but i keep forgetting to turn the tape.

I bought a recording lead from Maplin Electronics for about £9 some while ago.
It plugs into the telephone jack point and the telephone lead then plugs into
it. The other end I plug into a cassette recorder but could easily plug into a
solid state recorder if I wanted to. To record just press the record button of
the machine and it's done. The simplest and cheapest way I could find.

continious cartridge. preferably i would want a solid state one, one that uses
