Let's just call them 'sleepers' Andy though there aren't that many to bother me. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ANDY COLLINS" <Andy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Iain - I too have noticed this. Non of this bothers me, and I understand what Clive is saying, but it still seems strange and a bit anomalous to me -

It often seems to be the same people who are never in the office.

Andy,
you will get lurkers on any list, and without writing to ask questions
of the list membership, or answer questions, they may well benefit from
the knowledge that flies around on here. My view of this is that they
don't do any harm.

Regards,
Clive

What puzzles me a bit regarding these auto replies, is that they all
seem to be from people I neverf hear from or see on any lists, making
any contributions, which does make me wonder why they remain subscribed

Hi Barry,

some people are subscribed from work addresses, and therefore, when a
list message lands in their inbox while they are away, you will get a
number of out-of-office auto-replies. I did raise the question as to
how we could stop this happening, but I believe there is little we can
do about it. Just hit the delete button and don't worry unduly. One I
get quite often, for example, is from Robin Spinks. It turns out that
Robin often works away from his desk, and when I found this out, it
didn't seem strange any more. It did appear weird when he was just a
name to me.

Best,
Clive

Hello,

On the rare occasions when I send a message to this list, (usually in
reply to someone else,) I get out of office messages with the same
subject line, from people I don't know.

Am I alone in this, or is there a setting I should adjust to stop this
happening? Not a major problem, just a bit strange.

Ted
