Keith, you seem to be under a huge miss-aprension regarding the usefullness of sky+ for anyone who can't see the screen. Accessibility is no problem for total recording and playback functions, but you have to adopt a procedure which no sighted person would use, and which is not contained in the instructions. You can even tell whether a programme to be recorded by sky+ has been accepted, or is in conflict with another programme previously enterred for recording. You can record programmes which follow-on, to the minute, and you can prescribe daily, five-daily, or weakly series links. You can record two programmes simultaneously on any tv or radio channel at any time on any day. If you have to stop watching a pre-recorded programme for any reason, sky+ will automatically restart at the same point. Programmes are recorded in a strict time sequential order. Erasing programmes is a doddle, and accessing programmes to play is also not difficult as the oldest programme is at the top of the list. All this can be achieved without recourse to mobile phone or computer. In fact, in my experience, recording manually is more reliable than using the texting system. In conclusion, sky+ is without doubt, the most reliable and slickest pvr to use, includes audio description if you want it, and gives you acess to many more channels. You can even install a larger hard drive which will give you 125 hours capacity and, with a optimally sited dish, the audio quality is outstanding. Navigating recordings is guesswork, and you have to remember in which order the recordings come if you want something specific, but I am very happy with Sky Plus. I have also sent it texts from the phone to record, successfully. You need a sightling to help you set this up though, since you have to tie your box to your mobile phone number in My Sky on the box.
