thanks Steve. This does seem to work for reading fonts but I don't think style changes are read automatically, unless there is a setting I can change to make this happen. I have been playing with this and find it works very well indeed in Word and Outlook in particular. I was wondering though if there is any keystroke to determine font and formatting of the text at the cursor and/or the paragraph style. I can't find the keystroke but I accept I could well just be looking in the wrong part of the help file.
