Hi,

The caddy holder will usually connect to an IDE channel, so it is
treated as a standard hard drive. Each hard drive can be different, as
the BIOS will just boot from the hdd as normal, then if it can't boot,
will revert back to CD-Rom. The drives usually have to be put into
caddies, as there are more than one connector that has to be pushed in
(i.e, it has to be plugged into both the IDE cable and the power cable
inside the caddy). The caddy then slots into the caddy holder, and it
gets plugged in by slotting it in as far as it will go. Not a good idea
to just remove whilst things are running, but turn the system off first.

Andrew.
