Oh Jim another thing is are you able to Escape from that message, go to file
and arrow down to Export then sub-menu will come up and you can select
export as plain text file. If you enter on that a Save As dialogue box will
come up and you can leave it with the name it has or give it a new name.
You will need to specify where you want the file saved also, e.g. My
Documents. Once it is saved, it might take a few minutes depending on the
size of the file. then go to My Documents and it will be there as a text
file.

Subject: [access-uk] problem with pdf file
Hi List,
I received a pdf file from the open university but when I go to open it I
get an "alert, protection failure" message. Does anyone know what this
problem is and how I can access this file?
