Steve, thanks for this Information, it is so Interesting indeed.
I was hinting at when the Internet feature on the PTX1 was enabled for use,

As far as I know, that's not quite right. From talking to the nib last week, you can only stream to a pc. The ability to do this on the PTX1 has not yet been enabled. The ability is there but not yet activated via a software update or upgrade. Also, you can not download books as such as the service is a streaming service. This means that you can not then copy the books onto something like the PTX 1 or the Human Ware Stream.

eleanor

You pay for it by joining the Bookstream club which costs £50 a year. For that you get as many talking books as you can read, although you can only have five at any one time. You download them so you choose exactly what you want and when you want it. Once you join the streaming service you can then download the player.

David where does one get this special player to download to the PC and does
one have to pay for it?

bookstreaming is a completely different topic to the PTX1. In fact,
unless you order a cd copy of a book from the RNIB bookstream service you
cannot play your streamed book on the ptx1. You have to use the special
player which you download to your pc.

Good Elenor, the thing i'm really Interested in is the whole book
streaming
thing, and how it works.
One thing I would like to have seenn as an extra on the PTX1 is a kinda
socket to connect an external sound source, such as speakers,
Anway, enjoy your new player,

Elenor, yes there was such a CD, but I'm just wwanting to find out about
how
other visually impaired people are getting on with the PTX1 Player.
I always like finding out how other people are getting round problems
with
new technologies before I get stuck in. I find this a good way to go.

Have you contacted talking books as yet?,

There should have been a CD with instructions when you received it.

As I know this machine has been discused on this list just recently, I don't want to bring it up again on list, but if anyone could find their
way to giving me some hints/tips on how to get the best out of this
