[access-uk] Re: penfriend labels

I am sure I read somewhere that they did various designs to see what people felt and thought and which they'd really like to have so, bearing this in mind, I guess we all now have a point to make to the RNIB about our preferred sizes and shapes!

Hi David, surely you'd know freezer food from a cd
without the aid of a label? I can see perhaps that
someone may put one shape on soup, another on tinned
vegetables etc, but other than for that it seems like a
meaningless exercise. Don't get me wrong, it sounds like
an excellent little gadget, but I wish they'd have
                   thought it out better. John.

John

I assume that the various label shapes are so that you
can have one shape for tinned food, another for freezer
food, another for DVDs and another for
CDs.

I can't think of any other reason, and yes, they can be
felt after they are
stuck on.

These drawbacks are comparatively minor. It carries out
its main function very well, i.e. that of labelling. The labels I stuck onto freezer items at
10 a.m. are still intact.

Hi, I'm puzzled as to why penfriend labels should be any
bigger than the area the code occupies. Surely, given
that the data is on the penfriend and
not the label there's no need for it. The size of the
thing you're labeling
surely doesn't come into it.
It occurs to me that making labels bigger than they
need to be would potentially limit the functionality,
not increase it. Also why different shapes. Are the
labels thick enough that you can feel what shape they
are when stuck on something? I also hope that on units
subsequent to this first production run that the
design faults mentioned in previous posts will be
corrected. Am I missing something?
                   John.

                   John.
