Hi Jackie, when you plug the penfriend into the USB windows will see it as a drive. If I remember rightly there are three folders on the penfriend. The one with the labels in is the rec folder. As long as you back that one up to somewhere safe you'll be fine.

Many thanks John. So far, I have been using the labels that came with myPenfriend, but I want some more, particularly the tiny round circles which,as you intimate, are less cluttered and do the same as a larger label. I never thought, to be honest, that I would use it so much, and on such a variety of objects such as paperwork, identical bottles and the like.I haven't backed up the Penfriend yet, something I should do I know. Out of interest, do you simply plug in the USB and copy the files to somewhere safeon your hard drive? I didn't see any software in the box, so presume Penfriend comes up as a drive in Windows Explorer? Thanks for any clarification you can give on this. I wish they didn't mix them, as often people will use one particular label and not others. Personally I use the small ones, and allthe big ones are left unused. I've never been able to see why they mix them, or in fact why they produce big labels at all. Although it's possible to cutbig labels up all parts will say the same, so there's no point. The reason Mark in RNIB high tech gave me for RNIB not selling the labelsizes separately was that they would need extra codes. I can't see the sensein that argument, since a code is a code, it doesn't matter if it's on a small label or a big one. Here's the link to the additional labels. I never thought I would use it very much, but have found it to beextremely helpful in labelling paperwork, receipts and odd items around the house that feel identical to others. So, how does ordering these labels work in terms of which ones? What do you get in a set, all the same shape and size, or can you specify? I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge as this thread has beencovered in depth before, but I haven't paid too much attention to it untilnow.
