[access-uk] Re: noise file.

Hi Andrew.

I'm sure the computer was much quieter when I bought it. But when it was at pc world, it was so quiet. The store was very large and quite busy but I really had to put my ear to it to listen for the noise. I suppose the best solution is to place the computer on the floor. It's not really so much a problem Andrew as I play all my music via the line out through my hi-fi in the next room. Thanks for your advise Andrew.

Best wishes
Andy

Hi,

I got the file through Yousendit. No worries about the wait - was at
the pub anyhow.

Did this noise happen when you first purchased the machine? To me it
just sounds like normal power supply noise - that is, the noise is
coming from the power supply unit. This was sort of how my machine
sounded when I got it, but I put it under my desk which quietened it
down a bit. However, it started making this noise with a rasping sound
which was the fan moving in the shaft, but not moving true, which is not
your problem.

To replace the PSU in the unit is major work, and so I wonder if you
could move the unit so it was instead of to the right of you, perhaps
under the desk, perhaps standing on a shelf or in my case a piece of
wood? Your room sounded quite echoey, and this probably makes it sound
much louder, especially if it is on top of the desk.

In the PC World lab was there much other noise going on around you?

Andrew.

Hi George and Andrew.

I'll send the file again via You Send it and then I'll go to bed. The
TV is
crap anyway. Sorry to keep you both waiting around all night.
Best wishes.
Andy
