Hi Jim

Yes I setup my paypal account alone. And yes I have some sight but am registered blind. So it's not that great. But like many other blind people I first go to a website and see if I can use it. If after I find I have a problem then I will poast to a mailing list for help. This is exactly what I said before. The point is still valid. There are far too many people not thinking before they post and hence lists like these get full of junk messages. A totally blind friend of mine setup a paypal account by themselves without asking for any assistance and they were no expert. So obviously it can be done.

Also just because someone objects to having to plough through lots of pointless mesages it doesn't mean that person thinks themselves better than anyone else or that they are small minded.

I posted a message not so long ago about help with setting up a wireless network. Unfortunately I didn't get any replies. But today I managed to get it up and working. Sometimes you have to just jump in at the deep end and see what happens.

Darren.

Hi Darren,

When you set up your account with pay pal, did you do it alone? If so, do you have some sight? did you initially encounter any problems when setting up your account? Did you get frustrated when they gave you the bing bong saying you haven't completed a field correctly and had to start all over again? Did you ask other pay pal account holders for some advice? Did you wonder if you had some assistance in the first place it would of made the process that much easier? Well the answer to all those questions is the reason why we have lists like this to pin point any problems other users have had so they can avoid potential pit falls for other users and steer them in the right direction so they don't fall into the same pit falls as others have encountered when setting up this type of account.. I think you are being small minded when you think you are better than every one else when you can do it alone and others ask for assistance. Just my point of view.
Jim.

Darren,
I realise I could have gone to the Paypal Website, and found out how to create an account, but the whole point of my message was:
To set up an account as a Visually Impaired person. I thought it would be much better to ask for this help on a mailing list, that has Visually Impaired Paypal users.
You only had to ignore the message.
Thanks, Billy

Hi Billy

That is quite right these lists are here to offer help when you encounter a problem, or need advice on doing something you cannot find information on. When you go and setup a paypal account it walks you through the setup procedure. If you don't understand what it is asking you then is the time to ask for help. What annoys me is when people ask for information they could very easily find out for themselves if they could be bothered to go and look for it. I also have a debit card and encountered no problems when I setup my paypal account. Just go there, follow the instructions and you'll soon have an account.

Darren.

Darren, Yeah, you are quite right. I could have gone to find out as you say, but I find it is much better to ask for help from some Visually Impaired guys, who have used the service.
Anyway, thought these lists were created to offer help.
Billy

He will find all that information you've just given him when he goes and sets up his paypal account. Why he doesn't go and look for himself in the first place I'll never know.

ok, you have to choose create account with a user name and pw, you then have to give them your banking details, address account number and so on, then they will deposited 2 amounts in there.
you then have to give these amounts exactly when you get them, to verify that the details are correct.
these can take up a while til you get your next statement through, they will send you mail to say that funds have been deposited in your account, next when your statement comes, look for credits from papl, type in the 2 amounts these are usually pennies and you should have created your account.
as an extra security measure, they will phone you and you will have to tell them a number on the screen.
you may want to have a pare of peepers about for this part, although its not necessary. after this you will have created your account.
I will send you an invoice for this when your up and running.
lol
