If you get a good quality pair of headphones you'll get excellent sound from the Touch and volume to go with it, as for the voices, the English ones are female but you can change the rate of speech which might help and the Australian English one is quite a bit lower in timbre than the UK English voice, so that might suit better. Of course I realise how much these things are suggestive and one can't say a lot that is constructive when one doesn't row the same boat as someone else. Only the Touch is so versatile and fun that you want everyone to share in with you and, as with anything it's a shame to just dismiss it without taking the opportunity to have a good play with it. Yes, it can be frustrating at times, but it feels so good when you get where you want to be that you forget all about it quite quickly And no, I do not own any shares in the Apple business, I swear! just can't stop praising a company which makes their product accessible for us VIPs straight out of the box.

Hi Debbie -- ignore him, he's always like that, thinks he's a comedian...I too have a hearing loss and plan to put an Ipod Touch to the test on Sunday at my local store, I need to know if I can hear voice over clearly enough, both with hearing aids, and through headphones, and i want to know how much I can crank it up for music with headphones. -Andy----- Original Message ----- From: "Deborah Palmer" <deborah.hoptroff@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, February 11, 2011 1:39 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: mobile phones questionWhat about people who have a nearing impairment and find the Iphone voicedifficult to hear, as I do as it is a female voice and I understand that atpresent you can't change the default voice that is the reason why I am reluctant to go down that road at the moment as I can't hear it all that well. So please can people stop being sarcastic and answer the questions in a civilised and helpful manner or keep quiet Debbie -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf OfJim Williams Sent: 11 February 2011 12:41 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: mobile phones question Dave, Why can't people ask a quite legitimate question without it being put down by a sarcastic comment? What will people say when Apple have killed off all the competition and there is no choice out there?
