Hi Peter

I agree with you entirely. When the Rehab Officer asked me to try the jumbo
roller, I wasn't sure if I'd get used to it, but I have, and I find it is
better on my wrist. The only time I lift it for a tap on the ground is when
I'm trying to use an echo for my location, then it's useful.

Personally I use a jumbo roller as it is much bigger and doesn't snag in bad
pavements as easilyas the standard roller does. The pavements are particularly
bad where I live, but if that is not the case in your area, maybe the standard
roller will be ok for you.

Hi,

Can't answer the second question but yes you would get the VAT exempt price if
buying as an individual.

Just out of interest, I'm surprise you've being charged for the tip. Our
local disability provisions are governed by the local Council and they have
always said just to call them and they will sort out tips. Not that I've
replaced mine in forever, but just surprised.

Subject: [access-uk] long canes

Hi all -

Since choosing no longer to be a guide dog owner, the GDBA have supplied me
with a long cane [Revolution with roller tip], but now that I need a new tip,
they say I have to fund my own, or try social services.

I've just looked at the RNIB website, under long canes, and can see my
Revolution cane listed. Firstly, I assume I would be charged the VAT free
price? and secondly, can somebody tell me about the different tips for this
cane? I can't quite figure out the advantages of one over another, like I say,
I have been using the roller tip, which seems to have good durability for
street work, what are the pros and cons of the other tips over the roller tip?

Thanks for any help -

Andy
