Hi Adrien, copy daisy books into the daisy folder. The daisy facility isn't fit for purpose though. It will play books, and you can navigate by section, which will generally mean chapter, but it won't start where you stop it, and you can't put bookmarks in. I've gone over and over this with olympus, and in one of their emails they asked me if the word bookmark was highlighted on the display. I said I didn't know, as I was a blind person, and suggested to them that if it was necessary to look at the display for any of its operation, certainly something as simple as creating a bookmark it wasn't suitable for blind people, which is how it's been marketed. Mark and Paul in the RNIB high tech team have found that if you put a daisy book into audio book instead of daisy it operates more as a daisy book should. If you have any problems playing daisy books let me know and I'll put you in touch with the person I'm in touch with at Olympus. You could also drop the RNIB a line about it. They are aware of daisy problems.
Glad you've installed the firmware ok. John.----- Original Message ----- From: "Adrien Collins" <adriencollins22160@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi John When I tried to install the firmware the first two times, it installed the fist part ok but when I ran the second installation, it got to 15 percent and stopped, I checked to see what the problem was and as I said the memory card was set as my memory, I switched it to the internal memory and it went in no problem. I watched the counter go upto 100 percent. And yes I checked the version, it says version 1.2, it was on 1.1 before. Ok thanks for the quick run down on the changes, I tried to suss out he audio diary but haven't worked it out yet, do I just speak to it like I can when changing the time? And I wish we could copy music to it without having to use windows media player. I tried copying a book on to the dm and it hasn't found it yet. Not quite sure why, I put it in several folders, audio or daisy, I think we need to use the sonority to do that. I'll gradually work it out. It wouldn't have gone onto the flash card. If you check in preferences/system menu/system information what system version does it say? If you've installed it it will say 1.20. What concerns me is what you said about it installing to the flash card. It doesn't. It's not like the victor stream, where it installs from the card. It's a programme. You click on the executable and it runs the install. It does it twice, then gitells you when to disconnect the unit. In the new firmware they still haven't fixed the daisy. They've included support for usb microphones and speakers. I haven't checked that bit out but Tony, who is also on the list has. It enables you to use the dm5 as a USB microphone on your pc. Other than for that there are some improvements to the audio diary, at least I suspect that's what the other things referred to on the list of inclusions are.
