Do we have a date for the new generation of iPod Touch yet?

Hi Damon

Yes, precisely the reasons why I won't bother with the iPhone, but
rather the iTouch. I'm happy with my mobile as it stands with Talks, so
why break it if it works so to speak? I know there are lots of blind
people out there using the iPhone for daily tasks, and credit to those
who do. But my plan is to keep my Nokia with Talks for mobile use, and
perhaps an iTouch for the fun and leisure side of things in the future.
I'm going to wait for the new generation to come out first though.

Totally agree with you Jackie. The iTouch is fabulous.

Of course, I may completely eat my words when the forthcoming GPS app
from Sendero comes out and I find a reason to percevere with a connected
phone.
But other than that ... I found myself on a busy street corner in London
holding up the iPhone to my ear, urgently needing to make a phone call
but unable to dial. I couldn't hear the screenreader properly and had it
somewhere above my shoulder where I was attempting to flick fingers
across it accurately to reach an 11 figure phone number. I gave up and
got a colleague to dial the number for me on her phone instead.
The lack of tactile buttons made the task impossible in that situation.
Coupled with that, I was making it very obvious I had an iPhone which
I'd rather not do. Must've looked extremely odd.

...Damon

Hi Damon

I think it is why I would prefer an iTouch as opposed to an iPhone for
the very reasons you outline. I have Talks and Nokia handsets, so there
would be no real purpose in my migrating to an iPhone and giving myself
a lot of grief for nothing. The iTouch, however, with its extra storage
capacity and usable applications, does interest me at a later date.

What I'd add is that practical use while on the go is difficult.

The iPhone is more of a two handed experience and somehow finding and
dialing numbers on a busy street is difficult on a touch screen phone of
that shape and with that functionality.

In conclusion, iPhones work best at home.
