Hi Marie,
Did you get any answers to your question?
The answer to your question is yes you can. Enable the wireless connection on
your laptop when you're connecting wirelessly and turn it off and wire your
laptop to your rooter when you are using your laptop indoors.
You can have as many connections as you like configured on your computer. You
choose what connection to use at the time from Control Panel, Network
Connections. E.G. I have about six connections configured on my laptop, some
are wireless connections, some are dial up and one connection to connect
through my mobile phone. However, in your case, and not to confuse yourself, I
reckon the easiest way would be to follow my first suggestion; turn on wireless
when outdoors and switch it off when indoors.
Hope I didn't confuse you more :)
Cheers,
Amro

Hi, Perhaps I didn't express myself clearly. What I want to do is to have 2
separate connections on my laptop. A wired one for when I use it near my router
and a wireless one when I want to use it outside
in the sunshine or in a comfortable chair in the lounge.
My question was, Can 2 connections co-exist on the same machine happily.
Thanks to all techies for any info.
Cheers now,

Hi Marie.
It's perfectly feasible to have a number of desktops and laptops all
connected and surfing the web simultaneously but it really depends on whether
the deal with your ISP permits it.
We're using Sky at present and have a desktop and 3 laptops all wirelessly
connected and able to use the internet simultaneously. I have a further works
laptop that's connected by an ethernet cable to the router.
We had a similar deal with BT but I know some packages only allow one
computer to be connected at a time.
Regards.
Kevin

To the more technically minded among you, Is it possible to have two
internet connections on a PC, I.e a wireless one and a wired one from the same
ISP?
I want to use my laptop wirelessly but would like to have a hard wire
connection in case it's needed. Of course I will not use the 2 at the same time.
If it is, can someone tell me how it is done?
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers now,
Marie
