I don't know a general answer to your question Derek as to whether its possible
to choose between sending messages as plain text or HTML, but I'd guess its
down to the ISP being used and the webmail program or design of the page they
are using.
From what I've seen of lists using webmail they are much more prity in
appearance than the plain text formatting we are used to on these lists. Not
only in font style, but using different colours for the senders message and the
messages he/she is replying to. also pictures are often included too.
So, I would say nearly always people are using HTML formatting with webmail.
I'll be interested to see what others reply on this subject.
