HI George, The TOC is created and is at the top of the page now. WE
identifies it as a table of contents. It also identifies the entries as
hyperlinks. It doesn't seem to allow me to press enter, click, or use the
insert tab method to go to the part of the document to which the heading
refers.
For example one of the headings is Rise and fall of the political press in
Britain, which is on page 5. I can't seem to get straight to this.
Have I missed something? I didn't change anything in the tables dialogue in
the insert menue, reference submenue when I created the TOC.
Cheers
Yusuf

George, How do I get word to generate the table of contents? I've got the headings now and had a quick look through words menues but couldn't find it. Heading 1, HeadingHi Yusef,
One way to begin, is to use Word's Heading Styles.Contents, which is2, 3, etc..
Having done that, you can then generate a Table ofHyperlinked. That is to say when you browse through theTOC, you canclick on an item, and it will take you directly to wherethat Headingat eachappears in the document.
In technical terms, what Word has done is create Bookmarksyour ownHeading when it built the TOC.
Once you have mastered creating a TOC, you can then createwhere I ambookmarks and hyperlinks wherever you like.
George.
