Hi,

The list is at the following address:

To subscribe, send a blank message to <daisy-users-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>.

There is also a more active list on the PTR1 daisy player/recorder, but there are some DAISY specific questions by sending a blank message to <ptr1-users-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>. There is also a more active list at www.nfbnet.org, the list is called dtb-talk, cannot remember the list subscribe address though.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

taking the subject in a slightly different tacked. Can you, or anyone
reading this on the list, tell me how i can get onto the daisy users list
please? Doing a yahoo search found no results and I'm not sure where else
the list would be hosted at.

thanks in advance. i wanna keep up to date with info on Daisy players being
as, I'm enjoying the RNIB talking book service and using Daisy format CD's.

thanks again,

Justin

Hi,

The reason is the older player has a different CD-Rom drive, as well as
completely different code for handling volume/speed etc. If you put this
firmware on the older player you will cause it to crash and not respond.
The good news is the new firmware for the older player is currently in
testing and should (hopefully) be released in the coming months.

Andrew.

RE: [access-uk] firm ware.Hi Andrew, sorry to say, I have the older type
player. Why can the firm update not be used on the older type Victor
Classic.

Hi Billy,

If you have one of the newer players, then the update is applicable to
you. These are the players with buttons and not knobs to choose speed,
volume etc. If you have the older player with knobs, do not even think of
using this update:

 http://www.visuaide.com/update/victorupdateclas102.en.html

If you have the older player, it is on firmware 2.2.4, which most people
have as its a year or two old now. It can be obtained from:

 http://www.visuaide.com/update/victorupdateclas100.en.html

There is a new version of the firmware which will be coming out soon for
the older player.

Note as I said on the daisy-users list, its only available in American
prompts currently since the UK prompts have not been updated to reflect the
changes.

 Andrew.
