[access-uk] Re: facebook.com - an amazing, yet partially inaccessible, tool for blind people

Exactly, in fact I've found ways around even most of Yahoo's graphics now. Once an email address is confirmed, it should not need reconfirming anyway. ID and password verification should be enough.

Dave,

I fully agree, all that is needed is email verification.

Dave

Damon,

I think it would make a great In Touch program to start mentioning how
many staff are using this and blind people can't! Actually, if they use
it ever for work purposes, that would be discrimination as well! It's
about time we started doing something about the graphics. They are
completely unnecessary!

Linked-in is similar and is completely accessible - it's more
proffessionally focused than the current trend of social networking
sites like face-book but it does work.

Facebook isn't a chat website. And I don't have enough hours in the
day to sit and relay chat with strangers, sadly.

Oh I see what you mean now. There is another possibility; how about
irc?
You could use an Irc client like Mirc and connect to a general
purpose Irc channel where most but not all sighted people are on it.

Hope that helps.

hi chris

only one problem with this, majority of zone members are blind
people,
thus
not giving you access to the mainstream sites that others use.
