  you need to use parentheses, jaws says paren, rather than  brackets, which 
are square brackets. 

  The best way, with jaws at least, it to be inside your msn message and press 
control, shift, m. On the net you can get  lists of  what to do on the keyboard.

    Can somebody tell me the difference between :] and :-] when it comes to 
emoticons? I get them in text messages at times, and thought I knew than :] 
meant a smile, but don't know about :-].
