Hi to Donna and Kevin,

There are two programs you can use to convert avi files that I use, (but there are probably more out there you can use to convert AVI format to either audio or DVD quality formats or both.) However, the ones I use are called: "DVD Santa" and the other is called "winavi". The first in demo mode allows you to convert the files to 50 percent of the file for a taster of what DVD Santa can do. If your happy with the conversion, then you have to purchase the software. Winavi is more complex and is difficult to get past the graphical interface of the first screen, but if you can click on menu, then you are past the first screen and everything works fine. You are then given the choice to convert either audio or DVD or both. to convert to both, you have to highlight them and away you go, but if you only want one, either the picture or the audio, then just highlight the one you want and then convert the one file. This will convert the file into VOV format which you can burn to a DVD. This is just an overview, but its possible to convert AVI files to either. You will have to troll the net to find these programs. If you need any further help, contact me off list, unless anyone else is interested in converting AVI files to a DVD format and I will go into it further.

Jim.

Jim, sorry for confusion. I didn't look properly and thought you were replying to a message I had sent. That'll teach me! Grins. If you convert to Vob for playing on a DVd, what do you think's a good program for this? Would it be something like DVD Ripper?

Hi,

You can convert them to either VDC or VOB. The VDC format lowers the quality of the picture, but you can get more on one disk. The VOB format is the best quality.
