[access-uk] Re: digital switchover

Hello Will

I can answer this as the switchover is happening in my area right now. Basically what is happening is that the switchover is happening in two phases. Phase one will involve the switch of of analogue bbc 2 and two weeks after that, all the other analogue channels will follow soot. I think the reason for the two stages is so people aren't caught out to soon and to give those who aren't currently receiving digital channels a chance to upgrade. Another thing you will need on both switch over days is to retune your freeview receiver. On the goodmans smart talk freeview box, I found I had to retune twice. The first time I retuned the goodmans, I did it through the settings as I had no picture and was asked to make sure my areal was connected. Naturally I new what to do so retuned accordingly. When I got the channels I received a slightly different message advising me that due to changes to freeview, I needed to retune again so I did and it has been OK since. Hope this hasn't been to long winded, but this year a large part of the country will be going through the same switchover process so thought that as you asked about it, I would pass on my own experiences as many people will experience this at some point during the next year or so.

Hope this helps

Martin
