Hi Trace, it is a digital one yes but it doesn't talk. The only one i am aware of is the pure one. And also there was one you could put onto your pc which talked using your screen reader.

Does it talk though and is it digital?

Tell me more, mine's an old analogue radio with a cassette player/recorder, I've had it years.

Shouldn't we be able to get them as we have the radio's etc in the past? oh I do hope so as I'd love one of those.

This was in the British Wireless for the Blind Fund Newsletter last summer.

The page is at
http://www.blind.org.uk/preserve/symphony_launch.htm

Quoted text begins here.
The world's very first CD radio cassette recorder designed especially for use by blind and visually impaired people was unveiled by BWBF at London's Royal Festival Hall on 22 June.
Symphony has been commissioned by BWBF and took two years to develop at a cost of over £1m which includes the first 5,000 sets. The equipment has been designed and developed by Roberts Radio working to a brief from the Fund. The new set has a number of special features including the world's first CD bookmark facility in a portable unit. Within the radio, there is an audible frequency finder with pre-set controls.
Quoted text ends here.

Maybe the Sumphony is the radio you're referring to. Not sure whether BWBF sell products directly to the public.

Vince.

: Hi,
:
: I hear that Roberts are going to bring out a talking digital radio this
: year. Does any one know how much it is likely to be, when it will come
: out and whether it will be any smaller than the pure talking digital radio.

: Thanks,
