[access-uk] Re: dead laptop - your help needed

Phil,
I had a Toshiba Satalite 2400 that crashed halfway through a reformat. Later
on the computer would only boot up to a little white cursor. The screen was
black and no function keys offered any settings or configuration window. You
know, like you get with the F12 key etc. Well, I took this laptop to my
favourite dealer under the bridge in Glasgow's central station. He looked at
it and said the machine had lost something in the motherboard. It might be
fixable he said, but perhaps only maybe. He suggested since the machine was
4 years old that I take it no further as it would be costly. I took his
advice and tossed the Toshiba into the trash. Your laptop might be an easy
fix, it might be costly. If you had a good friend in the business that
would take a quick look at it this might save you a few pounds in a service
charge.
