Yes, for "external hard" read specifically 3.5.

Hi Carol, Surely you mean an external 3.5 inch drive?

Colin,

Once the new JAWS authorization is out and you can do this online you'll
probably be OK but, until then, I guess it's borrow an external hard
drive or get one, or run JAWS without authorization. That will mean
rebooting every 40 minutes though.

 Hi Andrew,

Thanks for that, guessed it wouldn't be that simple; after all it's
JAWS. OK I can install the licence onto the laptop no problem, The
difficulties arrive with the authorisation process. I've only got the
auth keys on a floppy, and obviously the laptop has no 3.5 inch drive.

What are the solutions with this?

Hi,

With JFW no - you specificly have to remove auth key and put it on new
machine, or if you use both machines just install on new machine.
c:\jaws50 can be copied over after successful installation of Jaws onto
new machine, but you need to go through installation as it does things
to registry.

Andrew.

Subject: [access-uk] data transfer from an old Desktop to a new laptop

Hi,

I've just inherited a Pentium 4 laptop. Not sure of the rest of the spec
because it won't arrive till Monday.

What I want to know is can I use the data transfer wizard to transfer
from an old Desktop running win200 and JFW 4.51 to my laptop running XP
Pro? In particular, can I transfer the Jfw 4.51 onto the lap top in this
manner without having to faf about with removing it first from the
desktop saving the auth key, reinstalling it onto the laptop and
reauthorising it?

Thanks for anything on this

Colin
