air vents in my room now to let more cooler air circulate.
at the moment my pc is sat on top of my desktop do you think it would be
better in the tower part of the desk below?

Hi John,
Right off the bat I'd suggest that your system is overheating due to dust
in the machine. If you are using a laptop put a couple of items under it.
Like three CD cases or a couple of thick felt tipped pens. This will
enable
the air to circulate into the under part of the machine. An open window
will
help a lot. That's only temporary. Next thing, get to your computer store
and buy yourself a can of compressed air and blow your machine clean. Lift
off the shell and get a sighted person to clean the dust out of your
desktop system. All should be well from then on.
Peter
