Strange. I switched from BT Internet broadband back in March but still have
the account set up for e-mail and my settings were already set to
mail.btinternet.com for both incoming and outgoing. I seem to remember having
been informed to change settings more than a year ago so maybe they've been
running in parallel for a while for those people that didn't change their
settings when first requested to and now they've withdrawn those servers.

Regards.

Hi lately within the last 24 hours there have been problems with sending and
receiving BT Internet e-mail through your preferred client.

The reason for this is because the incoming and outgoing server address has
changed.

Usually the pop3 incoming server would be pop.btinternet.com and this has
been changed to mail.btinternet.com

The SMTP has changed from SMTP.btinternet.com to mail.btinternet.com

I had informed another BT user by telephone of this change and it had
resolved his problem. The only way I had found this out is because I needed
remote assistance from BT customer services and noticed the changes made by
them after the call was ended.
I hope this helps all who use BT Broadband.
