Eleanor,
I am no more privileged than you or anyone else who is blind and in the
market for equipment, whether it be ATW, DSA or other sources. I just do my
homework and know what I need to suit my requirements. What you also may
not realise is that my back condition, which is becoming ever more serious
and painful, has to be taken into account when it comes to ergonomic design
and comfort. I'm not going into it because this isn't the forum for it, but
what you choose regarding Braille isn't just about having any display. In
my case, it has to be about how close to me the display can be, where my
keyboard can sit in relation to that display, and weight etc. I also need a
display that will work with anything I wish to use as a screenreader,
including VoiceOver for the Mac.
So, taking all these permutations into account, I'm not privileged, just had
a good, proper assessment that was backed up with medical evidence.

Hey Jackie now you are the one going on here!!! Personally I love the
Freedom Scientific products. However, the Focus Blue has its limitations
with regard to N97 Mini in that I cannot use it!!!! However, it works fine
with other handsets. From what I can tell by reading your communications,
you are or appear to be in a very privileged position of having
people/assessors who can provide the most expensive display for you, if only
we all were so privileged. Indeed give me seven plus grand and I'll go for
your choice too.
