Hi. Just thought I'd add something to this thread.I'm currently with Tiscali but as from last night, I signed up with Virgin Media.
My Parents have just switched to them too. They used to have a phone line with BT, television with Sky and broadband with Tiscali. My Dad then decided that he wanted everything through the same provider. My Brother has everything with Virgin Media, so we've all gone along the same route.
They're coming out to me in two weeks to install the broadband which I've asked for 20 meg, and the phone. with the phone, I've gone for the free evenings and weekends package. I'm not interested in the television as I watch everything on TV on demand on my computer these days.
From reading other posts to this list about internet providers, Virgin Media seems to be a good choice so I hope I don't have any trouble with it.

Hi Will Yes you can just get broadband from Virgin and no you don't need a virgin phone line they can do it using the existing BT line. Yeah, sure, they will always go through the turn it off and on again routine when you call them but as some one who worked for an IP for a few years this does fix most problems so I can live with that. At my office I have had numerous problems with other ADSL companies which at the same time have seen applauded in conversations like this one. The best one is the one that just works and I think all of them do that for some people. Virgin for me but I guess not for everyone. Well, firstly you should investigate whether you have cable in your area, you can do a simple postcode check plus you might need to check with your landlord whether you can have cable installed. If so, all well and good, you can buy just broadband on its own and use your O2 phone to make and receive calls. If you want a landline and you can get cable, with some of their broadband packages you can get a free or discounted landline, plus your keeping your options open for the fastest broadband speeds, 10MB plus. If it has to be a bt landline or through a bt phone socket, I suggest talktalk who will offer you a landline package and free up to 8MB broadband. This also has the added advantage of international calling options included, so you can call many countries around the world for next to nothing or even completely free of charge. All the best and I hope the above has helped you some. ----- Original Message ----- From: "william lomas" <lomaswilliam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxTo: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, April 03, 2009 8:12 AM Subject: [access-uk] best internet provider?I am moving into my new flat for rent in a couple of weeks time, and I was wondering which internet provider in the UK do you guys reckon is good value for money? I was considering o2 broadband for the home, beeing as I am an o2 customer I could get it for seven pounds and fifty pence, pus ten pounds for my BT landline, bringing my total to a respectable, 17 pouns plus my mobie contract of 20 pounds so bringing everything up to 38 pounds. However the service is not in my area so I have to pay seventeen pounds just for the internet, which I feel nowadays is a bit expensive. Is this the best I am going to get?
