Hi Jackie,

Do you have a model number for your laptop?

All the best

Well Billy, Comet do a good range of HP laptops, starting at £399.99, but I
don't know if the laptop at that price has the numeric keypad on it. I
could get my son to check on their website for you if you want to start at
that price. I'm not advocating Comet either because he works there. It
just happened that I chose the HP and ordered it from their Home Shopping
telephone number. I believe that model has a 160GB hard drive and 2GB of
RAM.

The one I have has an Intel two Dual Core processor, three USB 2.2 sockets,
firewire, Bluetooth and wireless networking. Its about £950 at the moment
(ouch). The hard drive is partitioned, which means I have put my music onto
one section, and left the other part for my main programs and documents.
There are some good backup utilities on it as well.

Regarding software, it came with that bloody Norton 360 and a 30-day trial
of Office 2007. I removed both without launching them, and put in AVG Free
and Office Professional 2003.

It's the best laptop I've ever used, but I'm sure there are others about
that people can give you information on. It suits my needs perfectly, but
it is down to the individual as you know.

Hope that helps a bit. It is a minefield looking for something these days
with so much to choose from.

Jackie
