[access-uk] Re: basic embossers

Hi George
originally it was connect via serial. on my new pc there is no serial conection, so I am using a cable with a serial at the embosser end and USB at the PC end. I have a horrible feeling this may be what your conclusion is. apologise if i'm jumping the gun.

Hi Brian,

How is the embosser connected? Serial or Parallel?

I know these embossers pretty well, so I'm sure we'll find a solution.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] basic embossers

Hi
I have a second hand index basic S embosser which used to run well
using Cipher braille translator. This was before I changed my PC from
XP to XP pro. Now, I have tried using Cipher, Winbrailee 5, and a
trial version of Braile maker. I cannot get the embosser to print. If
I press the help button on the embosser, it embosses the test sheet
OK. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? If it helps
it says "basic ready, 4.0" when i switch it on. Advice would be much
appreciated.
Brian
