Well if you have found a solution that works Billy, then that's great news. Long may the problem stay away. Computers are a right pain when these things occur.

My advice to you and anyone else though is to keep your disks in a safe place when you purchase a PC, or make a set of backup CDs that you can keep safe, as you never know when they might come in handy. I know it is easy to be wise after the event, but I've always tried to keep them locked away where I know I can hunt them out if the need arises.

Good luck.

Jackie

Jackie, this is why I am a little worried about formatting my system, but I have a version of XP, but the drivers are my biggest problem.

I am thinking of purchasing a new USB sound card, which would ease the sound driver problem.

Who knows though, It seems as if the spyware problem I was having is sorted for the moment.
I just added the Yieldmanager.com
to my restricted sites option in security/ internet options, and the problem has disappeared

Billy

Hi Billy

But once you format, have you got a Windows disk to run on it? If you've lost the recovery disks that came with it, chances are you would need to buy Windows XP, and you would need to ensure that all your drivers can be downloaded once you do a full format. With a recovery or restore disk you get with a PC, these drivers are included on it.

Jackie, I'm not sure about recovery files on my HDD, but how would I know if they were all right, no way to tell.
Think the best Idea is to clean Install, with format,

Billy, do you have recovery files on your hard drive that you can copy to CD and then run as a restore? It is always best to do this when you first buy your machine, and lock them away somewhere safe so that if anything untoward happens, they are there. But a little late right now I fear.

Good luck mate.

Jackie, would you believe it. I can't put my hands on the recovery disks for my DELL 2400. You know the old saying, everything that can happen, is happening. Really sick of computers now, George, has hit it on the head, when he says I now have the Yield Manager Infection, and it won't allow me to use the NET, will keep trying though,

Well Billy mate, I'm sorry to think along the same lines, but I figure you are right. A format would certainly get rid, but I know how much of a hassle it is to do one, and not always possible without sighted help when you need it.

Just remember to back everything up, and have all your relevant program disks to hand if you do restore your PC.

Good luck.

Jackie,
I have tried everything, including scanning for viruses, and all kinds of malware.

I have noticed though, when I remove my system from the Internet, then it no longer plays up.

I realise this will sound silly, but it really works like that.

Now I have to download my email messages from the NET, and then remove the plug from my system, unplugging the Internet.
Then I can read my mail, without the system going crazy.
I think a full format of my system is now in order,
Billy,
Dinky Doo

Hi Billy

In addition to the suggestions made, you might also go into the Add/Remove Programs menu in Control Panel, and see if there are any strange programs lurking there that you know for sure you didn't install previously. I have seen this happen before, and if you manage to uninstall anything unwanted, chances are it won't keep appearing each time your PC boots. You might also look in Start-Up to see if there is anything that has hooked itself into the system that you could remove so it doesn't run when the machine boots.

If this sounds difficult for you to achieve, it might be advisable to have someone sighted take a look for you. I'm not saying for one minute that there is anything in Add/Remove or Start-Up, but it is worth checking out.

Good luck.

You have adware. Run a virus scanner or adware removal tool to get rid of it.

hi guys,
I'm baffled at the moment, and I'm wondering if anyone knows whats going on with my system?.
I'm getting an error box popping up at bootup.
This is what the message in the box says: http://yieldmanaga...
Then a few minutes later, the following webpage appears: http://888.com
this is an online casino page.

Any help with this please,
