Hi Andy Yeh, I was looking at web sites where you can choose the components to put a pc together. I want a second pc to network to my laptop. I've had two crashes over the last few months, and not sure why. I have a backup external drive, but you can guarantee, when this has crashed recently, I hadn't backed up stuff for a while. Additionally, there is the inconvenience of not having a pc for a while. I have been looking for a used pc, but missed a couple that were recently advertised on the recycle it list. Do you know of anywhere that sells used desktops, but with decent specs? I was trying to keep the cost down, as it won't be my main pc, but at the same time, I didn't want something that was sluggish. anyway, thanks for your reply from the other day. Hi Terry, You are right to a degree, tell me first are you wanting to build your own computer? if so what specs do you want? 2 Am is a faster socket this is how the Prosser plugs in to the Mother board, it is a good one, I myself use an AMD 2.8 X2 PROSSER IT has 1 meg cash memory where most of these are only 512. By the way the 2.8 x 2 means dual core, the last time I looked the AMD 6000 was the fastest one they did. Regards Andy Shipp & Trafford my new best friend. Located Northampton Northamptonshire UK. It seems to be dual core and seems to be 64 bit and seems to be 4 Ghz. Hope you get some useful info on this. Regards. Hi All Can someone try to explained to me, what I need to look for when trying to find out what the differences are between processors. a.g. I understand Intel descriptions, when talking about processor speeds, but I'm not quite so sure when it comes to Athlon processors. The one mentioned below for example, . AMD AthlonT 64 X2 4200+ Socket AM2 Does it mean that it is 64 bit? Is it duel core? And lastly, is it 4.2 GHz? As you can see, I really don't have a clue. Thanks for any help for the idiots guide to processors. Terry ------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message.
