The feedback you hear is because sound entering the microphone is coming th=
rough the laoudspeaker and making the round trip back into the mic and so o=
n being amplifiedeach time which iscausing the howling.=20
The traditiona way around this isto break the loop using a headset mic, a h=
eadphone with mic built in. These come in avariety of configurations but a=
good one with jacks for both headphone and to fit into the micrphone socke=
t of the laptop (assuming it has one) will cost somewhere between =A310 and=
=A320. I brought two last year made by Altec Lansing I think and they are=
pretty good for the money.
I have seen a couple of desktop units that act like a speaker phone. I wou=
ld be a little wary of these given that you could end up with a wrong'un th=
at doesn't really work very well or wrose still disables your soundcard and=
has Jaws coming through it as well. I saw one of these in Maplin a few we=
eks back and was tempted but as I did not try it I cannot advise on suitabi=
lity.
